Ballet dancers pad the tip of their dance shoes with Lambs wool.  It is soft, keeps your feet from wiggligleing around and is relatively inexpensive at about $7.00

Capezio even makes a perfectly shaped lambswool toe pads that you can simply slip into the toe of your shoe.
