Men About Town

Make sure your ice trays are filled and the kids are in their room watching Captain Kangaroo. The 4th Season of Mad Men starts on AMC this Sunday, July 25th at 10/EST. This show makes us take interest in fine suits, liquid lunches, and the birth of mod furniture. Expect more great style from the men and women in the cubicles of corporate advertising in the 1960's. Let's face it, they even make campy soda pop commercials seem sexy.

The Blanket Burn;
Can I use the sunscreen I bought last summer, or should I buy a new one? Does it ever lose strength or expire?
Just look at the expiration date! The FDA requires that all sunscreens maintain their original strength for at least three years! Yes, Three years!
Definition Design
patent leather:
Pronounced; pat-nt, pat-n or, especially Brit., peyt-nt
–noun
a hard, glossy, smooth leather, used esp. in shoes and accessories.
This version of treated leather was invented in 1818 by Seth Boyden of Newark, NJ. Boyden was interested in creating a version of leather that would retain its durability while at the same time would have a dressy appearance.
Patent Leather was originally created by using linseed oil. Later, the invention of plastics changed the methods for producing patent leather.
Patent leather has basically seen as a spring/summertime leather. BUT WE LOVE IT ALL YEAR ROUND. WHY NOT? It is beautiful, durable, easy to care for and most importantly virtually waterproof. As far as we are concerned perfect for a NYC winter.
